About Robbie Francis
Expertise
I CAN answer (and any that are similar): why do my parents hate me? Why can't my parents accept me? Is it wrong being gay? Will my parents ever accept me? Why do I feel so alone and alienated? Is being gay a sin? How can/do I come out? When do I come out? I CAN NOT answer: why am I gay?

Experience
I am gay and have come out. I have been depressed and suicidal in the past, but I am much better now. I have helped friends who are gay.

Organizations
Outdoor Odyssey (a mentoring program for special needs children), SLC (Students for Life Choices)

Education/Credentials
In high school, so I can relate to most teens.

Gay/Lesbian/Bi Teens - I dont know what to do....

Question
Right, so I've told couple friends,9 in fact.
But the real question is how do I tell my parents and others in my
school, I'm 14 and live in Burnley, Lancashire which is in England
and so far it's ruining my life.
I know my other friends may take it well but i'm not sure,
and telling my parents would be the last thing on my list.
It would be alright if i wasn't a bit 'Overweight' but I already get bullied alot in school for no apparent reason.
it's quite upsetting actually.
But i have to stay strong..
people just walk around my school thinking they own the place, honestly, I wish a car would run them over.
lol
xD
so,
back to the question,
my REAL question is how do I tell my parents,
and other people at school,
because if i tell someone at school,
they might tell other people that I didn't want to tell. Any helpful tips or advice?   please.....  :(
Tom.

Answer
The biggest mistake any gay/les/bi teen makes is thinking they HAVE to tell their parents and their friends. I say, your business is your own. As for how, that also has to deal with how your parents and friends are, their relationship with you, etc. I can't really answer this question, Tom. It's something you have to decide. But I will give you the advice that you do not have to tell them yet. In fact, I suggest waiting until you are about 17 or 17. Things may be easier for you then. Best of luck, buddy.
