About Robbie Francis
Expertise
I CAN answer (and any that are similar): why do my parents hate me? Why can't my parents accept me? Is it wrong being gay? Will my parents ever accept me? Why do I feel so alone and alienated? Is being gay a sin? How can/do I come out? When do I come out? I CAN NOT answer: why am I gay?

Experience
I am gay and have come out. I have been depressed and suicidal in the past, but I am much better now. I have helped friends who are gay.

Organizations
Outdoor Odyssey (a mentoring program for special needs children), SLC (Students for Life Choices)

Education/Credentials
In high school, so I can relate to most teens.

Gay/Lesbian/Bi Teens - I really like a "straight" boy.

Expert: Robbie Francis - 9/22/2009

Question
Well, there's this boy, I'll call him David, and we've been hanging out for a couple of months. We go out to eat, go to the movies, even lay in the grass and watch clouds together. But, he insists that he's straight. He knows I'm gay, but doesn't know I have feelings for him. It's not just a crush, I know I actually have legitimate feelings for him, and I'm very interested in developing a relationship with him. I've asked him multiple times if he's sure he's straight, and he says he is. He knows I wouldn't tell anyone if he was gay, so it's not a trust issue. All of my friends are convinced he's gay, but he just won't come out. He's awkwardly flirty without being too obvious. Like, he hugs me, and picks me up, and just does a lot of things that straight guys wouldn't usually do to their gay friend. I don't know what to do. Help? :[

Answer
Ugh, been there, done that! And it sucks. Haha, well, Kyle, it seems to me that if you've asked him multiple times and he continues to say no, then there's not much more advice I can give you. Maybe he is straight, or maybe for some reason (if he is gay) he just doesn't feel comfortable coming out to anyone. All you can do, really, is either wait and see how things go, or try to move on. I'm sorry if that doesn't help much- this is a tough situation.
