Subject: place of birth of Hungarian grandparents

Question
Hello, Mike.  I have been trying to locate the birthplace in Hungary of my maternal grandmother.  She was born to a wine grower as Lidia Kiraly on February 17, 1888.  She migrated to the US as a visitor around 1906-1910 (graduation present), met my grandfather there (Johann Hehn) and never returned.  All of her life she talked about "Budakaleszi" or Budagaleszi as a place in her past, but I find only similar names on a map.  I have checked Ellis Island records with no precise info, but did get her SSN, DOD, but no birth info.  My sisters and I want to visit her town in Hungary, but we cannot be sure that the similar looking names on the map are where we want to go.  Can you give me direction as to whether we need to pay an internet agency to look for us?

Answer
Hello,

If you have this person's SSN, you can apply to receive a copy of the apploication she filled out to receive her SSN.  This application requires that the subject enter her city, state, and country of birth.  The application also contains the name of her parents (including mother's maiden name).  This link explains how to apply for a copy of the application:

I hope this helps!
- Mike
