Question QUESTION: Hello Dr. Dennis,
I'm 31. I would like to meet some great guys. I work on Friday and Saturday nights and most other days of the week and I go to graduate school. Do you have any advice for me? Where to go to meet great, intelligent, educated guys (I don't like anyone from school or work) any certain places other than coffee shops and bookstores? and i hate bars and pubs, etc.
thanks!
ANSWER: Hello Tina!
I agree with you: bars, pubs, clubs, the internet, etc. aren't great places to meet great guys. On the other hand, every other place is - even coffee shops and bookstores.
Here's the reality: great guys are everywhere! You just have to be out in order to run into them. The real problem is that you lack approach skills. If you were to see one of these great guys somewhere - say at a restaurant or on the train or getting your car fixed or at the mall, etc., how would you approach him in order to strike up a conversation? Would you just wait around and hope that he approaches you? You might be waiting a very long time!
The good news is that girls have a number of great tools to approach guys (without LOOKING like you're approaching them!) that even us guys don't have. Further, there are tons and tons of great places to meet guys. I suggest you take a look at my website (http://BeingAMan.com) and look at the e-books, "How Women Can Approach Men" and "1001 Places and Techniques to Meet Great Women" - yes, the latter book deals with women, but in fact, it's just as applicable to women that want to meet men! Truth be told; there are actually far more than just 1001 places!
By the way, the very first step isn't just about getting out of the house. It's about knowing what you're looking for. Do you know what kind of guy you want? I'll bet you say you do when in fact, you really don't. You're looking for some nebulous idea like a guy you're "attracted to" or that you "have chemistry with", etc. While these are important attributes, they aren't the primary thing you're looking for.
Thus, the first thing you have to do is to define exactly what you're looking for. If you know you're attracted to rugged guys, you're not likely going to find them in a business district. On the flip side, business guys WILL be there. So, this is exactly where you want to start - by defining the guys you want to meet. Next, decide where they hang out and that's where you want to be as well.
