Subject: Tables display different in IE vs. Firefox

Question
QUESTION: Hi there, can you tell me how to fix the code of this site so that the tables display equally in IE and Firefox?

to check, please go to :

http://www.whatcomcounseling.org/employment.htm

And select any one of the Available positions:

Clinician I - Crisis Respite - on Call
Clinician I - Intensive Outpatient Team
Clinician I - Jail Diversion Program
Clinician II - Outpatient

DMHP (on call)
Finance Director
Admin II - Reception

-

I'm not a seasoned pro in this, but have been asked to see if I can fix it. So, If I can get any help in layman's terms that would be fantastic.
Thank you very much for any help for this non-profit.

ANSWER: Steve, Firefox does read HTML code differently than IE, this is a compatibility issue.

One of the issues I see is too many tags.

Try the following...

<table border="0" width="73%" bgcolor="#CCDDDD" cellpadding="2">
                 <tr>
                    <td width="87%" height="26" align="left">

                    <b>

                    <font face="Tw Cen MT">
                    <a href="Clinician_I_job_description2.htm">Clinician
                    I - Crisis Respite - on Call</a></font></b>
                           <br>
                    <b><font face="Tw Cen MT">

                    <a href="Clinician_I_Intensive_OP.htm">Clinician
                    I - Intensive Outpatient Team</a></font></b><br>
 <b><font face="Tw Cen MT"><a href="Clinician_I_Intensive_OP.htm">Clinician
                    I - </a>
                    <a href="Clinician_I_JDP_job_description.htm">Jail
                    Diversion Program</a></font></b> <br>
                    <b><font face="Tw Cen MT">

                    <a href="Clinician_II_Outpatient.htm">Clinician
                    II - Oupatient</a><br>
                    <a href="CDMHP.htm">DMHP (on call)</a><br>
                           <a

href="FinanceDirector.htm">Finance
                    Director</a><a href="AdminII_front%20desk.htm">Admin II -
                    Reception</a></font></b></td>
                 </tr>
                 </table>

If that doesn't work do a browser search on
firefox versus ie and tables

You will see why you are having trouble.

This is also 100% volunteer.

QUESTION: Nancy, Thank you for your help, it's greatly appreciated.
The page(s) that are incorrectly displaying are the job description pages themselves.
See: http://www.whatcomcounseling.org/Clinician_I_job_description2.htm
The bottom table is shifted up and ..well if you view the page in IE it looks OK. Tables are good and text is aligned.
I've beat my head on this wall for a couple days now and appreciate any help. The site was designed in MS Frontpage...;?<

Answer
Steve, I can't  troubleshoot your code.

Each browser, IE, FireFox, Netscape, etc read HTML code differently.  There is always going to be an issue.

I can tell  you that nesting tables (one table within another table within another table is a problem.

You can go to the Tools menu > Page Options > compatibility and select a specific browser or browsers (FireFox is not included).

You are not the only one with a compatibility issue with FireFox.
