Expert: John Martin - 11/4/2009
Question Hi,
I've recently found a software, program, that suits my site. I want to embed it to my website so that my users can work with it. I know HTML, XHTML, please tell me how to embed it to my website so that my users can use it like they are using it in their desktops?
It's the open source free software called Pencil. And my site is about funny cartoons. What do you think? THANK YOU!
Answer Unfortunately simple programming languages will not allow such a thing due to the possibility of virus hazards. However, if you insist on learning some new languages you will find that this is fairly easy to accomplish using visual Basic and ActiveX. ActiveX is a programming method that allows exe programs to run through your website but it also requires the user to actually download the program into their downloaded program files in their windows folder. This is a commonly used format (ActiveX) but there would be no way for me to hold an entire tutorial right here in this response.
Here is a great place to start if you are interested in learning how to do this...
