About Claes-Gustaf Nordquist, M.D.
Expertise
I have a long and intense interest in European and World History. This also includes Military History - especially as I have been a military physician-surgeon for 15 years. I`m also interested in the history of Science, Technology-Engineering, Medicine and Mathematics.

Experience
A life long intense interest. But I'm not a professional historian - though the next best thing, an educated VERY interested amateur!

Education/Credentials
I'm a Doctor of Medicine, specialist in Medical Oncology, Radiation Therapy and Radiation Protection. But that has no connection to this.
However I do answer such questions too here on AllExperts.com and have done so for a long time. For such questions click on the appropriate link: Oncology (General Cancer), Military History, Brain Tumors, Breast Cancer, Colon Cancer

Question
what is the diffences between western and eastern roman empire are ? at least 5  please

Answer
Well the Roman Empire split after the reign of the Roman emperor Constantin into the West Roman Empire (with Rome as capital city) and the East Roman Empire (with Constantinople - now Istamboul - as capital city). The border in the Balkans roughly followed the border between Serbia and Croatia with Serbia on the East Roman side and Croatia on the West Roman side. In the 5'th century the West Roman Empire (Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, most of Britain, Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia) disintegrated while the East Roman Embire, later called the Byzantine (after an older name of Constantinople) Empire (including most of the Balkans, Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Crimea, Georgia, Armenia, Cyprus, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Egypt and Libya) lived on. It lost a lot of territory to the Arabs and Turks later on though. The last remnant of it did not die until 1453 when the Ottoman Turks conquered Constantinople. In the West the Roman Catholic Church with the Pope in Rome was the dominant Church. In the East it was the Greek Orthodox Church with its Patriarch in Constantinople that was the dominant Church. In the West Latin was the special language - especially for the Church and earlier also for the state. In the East it was Greek. The Western Empire died rather early. The Eastern lived on much longer. The western Empire had the Western part of the old Empire, the Eastern had the Eastern part. The Eastern was richer in resources and people than the Western part. So now you have 5 differences! Good luck!
