Question
I know this is a "what if" question. If the two guys who were watching the front of ship, had binoculars, would it make a difference? My friend says that the Titanic was going too fast, too big, would take too long of a curve when trying to go around the iceberg, to matter.

Thanks for the time.

Answer
Your friend is right, it would not have helped, but -

Binoculars are very useful identifying things once you see them, not so good at spotting them.  The main prob with the lookouts was they were too high up to be effective.  Had they been down on the foredeck, low enough down to see the caps as the water hit the iceberg, the ship might have had a better chance.  Hope this helps.
