Question
This may not be in your area of expertise, but it's been
debated around the dinner table for awhile now.  Ready??
When was the last time top hats were worn at swearing in ceremonies in Washington?  My guess was JFK and there's a dinner riding on that being correct.

Answer
Hello Dee,

Eat well and enjoy that dinner! You are right, JFK was the last President to be sworn into office wearing a top hat.
President Jimmy Carter abolished the use of morning dress for inaugurations, but it was reinstated, minus the top hat by President Ronald Reagan. Up to this point in history no President has worn the hat.

Good Luck
Catie  :-)
