General Networking/Lan/Wan/Auto-Downloading of files upon network connection

My pastor is trying to setup a system within our church that would allow people to directly download the weekly bulletin as soon as they connect to the wireless connection at the church. Is there any way to do this?

I was thinking that we could setup some type of login page to access the wireless connection and have a link to the document or maybe some script could be run that would activate whenever someone made a connection to the router.

What is the best/easiest way to make this happen? Thanks and God Bless...

Hi Chuck,

Thanks for your question.
I'm not 100% sure that it's possible to trigger
a download upon network connection and I would be
a little concerned about security issues if it, indeed,
were possible. I would suggest a question to a Web
expert might be advisable.

Is the document a PDF? It would be relatively easy
to simply connect to a web page with the link to the
document and perhaps a captcha to ensure no spamming
occurs from outside the church.

I would agree with you that a login page would be sensible
and a link to the document from the index page on the
web site. It may well be possible to code a script on the
router to point to the web page, but again I would have some
concerns about security with such an automated approach.

Good luck
