Thansk for the quick reply. I can't find the game I am playing at the moment on that web-site but that maybe because it has only just been released as a multiplayer. It is TDK's Mercedes Benz World Racing. I beleive it is trying to use port 54323 and I have put into my internet connection properties what it calls a service and I had the option to enter both Internal and External port numbers. I tried putting 54323 into both but the Internal port had changed when I went back into the properties and the whole time no-one had been able to connect to my game.
I am still very green when it comes to networking and especially with routers and setting up ports. If you could help me understand exactly what the changes I'm making are doing and some very basic step by step type instructions I would be extremely grateful.
Many thanks and kind regards,
Rob.

Question -
Hiya,
I have a broadband internet connection that runs through a Thomson Speedtouch 510 router. I am trying to host a game server on the internet but some restriction in the router is preventing remote users to connect.
AOL (my isp) have been no help whatsoever in sorting this out, First they say, we dont support that, then they say they do support it but they don't know how to do it and then they say it isn't supported again. Suffice it to say that I have given up ever getting any help from AOL tech staff.
My Windows XP (home sp1) firewall is not activated so either the router is running a firewall that I dont know how to deactivate or (this is the most likely option) I need to open a port in the router to allow traffic in.
Any thought or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Even a shot in the dark guess would be acceptable.
Many thanks and Kind regards,
Rob.

Hello,
You are not able to run the server because the games require certain ports to be opened on the router. Now, i dunno which games you are going to be running,if you want a complete list of the games and the ports that they use, have a look at the following link and then open the ports on the router accordingly. http://www.chebucto.ns.ca/~rakerman/port-table.html
Thanks & Regards,

Answer Hello,
What you can do is, open the ports in range say like above 50000 to 55000. So if the ports change, they will be in the range.
You will have to go to the web based interface for the configuration page of the router.
