Question I have a hand painted business that specializes in wine glasses. I am branching out to sell to retailers but not sure what the mark up should be on my products. Trying to figure out what to charge them and what mark up they will put on the items for retail pricing.
Answer Donna,
Retailers would like to make at least 50% margin on wine glasses. This is a percentage of their selling price, not cost. So, if the cost of your glasses are $25, they would buy them for the $25 and sell them for $50. Basically they double the cost which is called "keystone" markup in the retail industry.
Hope this helps!
