Question
My question is in regards to the upgrade and downgrade history of a stock.  I don't understand some of the terms used such as "market perform" or "outperform.  Is there a guide to all of these terms with their definitions. Or can you explain these terms for me.
Thanks for you help.
Dan

Answer
I'm not sure this will help enough, but there is a "Free Encyclopedia" on the AllExperts Web site, which may have the terms you are looking for, and "Wikipedia" might be helpful.  Some brokerage sites contain an online glossary of investment terms, but you may need an account to access it.
In referring to "all those terms," you mention only two specifically.  "Market perform" means a stock is expected to rise or fall in tandem with the overall market (this is a broad, generalized forecast), whereas "outperform" means that a stock is expected to do better than the overall market (another forecast).  These are not upgrade and downgrade histories.  They are predictions.
