Subject: Menstrual Cycle during surgery

Question
I have surgery scheduled for Friday to have my gallbladder removed.  I didn't realize when I made the appointment that it would be the week of my period.  Is this okay or will I need to reschedule?
Thank you!
Lori

Answer
Dear Lori,

This is no problem. The only thing to do is to NOT wear a tampon, only use a pad that day. Bring an extra one with you just in case. This is a normal occurrence and surgeries cannot be planned around menstrual cycles.

I hope I've helped.
