Question
hi, i have read all the info i can get on the net about this surgery ,what i need to know is what do i pack for the hospital /what do i bring /what will i need for the hospital stay. please help! thank you

Answer
Dear Kay,

Typically what you'd need to bring into the hospital is the following...
1. A robe or something to keep your shoulders covered, just in case you get cold easily. Do not plan on bringing PJ's or nightgowns because when you are in the hospital you'll usually have an IV and it is BEST to use the hospital gowns. The hospital gowns have snaps and are used to allow easy access to patients with IV's.
2. Your toiletries or anything that you'd use every morning. Tooth brush, hair brush or comb, makeup, lotions, deodorants and the like.
3.Slippers if you have some that are supportive and allow you to walk around with ease.
4.Change of clothing to wear on the way home including a change of underwear.
5. Books or magazines to occupy your time.
Don't bring valuable things, don't bring work with you, don't bring too much of anything as you really won't use it. You should use the time in the hospital for healing and resting. I suggest to my patients don't bring a cell phone, this will give you time to catch up on sleep and not make you feel obligated to talk to anyone. Once you are home that's when calls can be made, or when family visits in the hospital and they have the cell phones, they can make calls in your behalf.

I wish you a speedy recovery!
