General Surgery - lymph node

Expert: Dawn Caceres - 1/22/2008

Question
I am currently nursing but had a lumph come up in my armpit which seemed unrelated to breast feeding.  I went to doctor and she said it was a lymph node and put me on an antibiotic.  I have been on the meds for 8 days and there has been no change in the node.  She said if it wasn't gone or reducing in 2 weeks (6 more days) they would refer me to a general surgeon.  What will they do when I go to the surgeons?

Answer
Dear Pamela,

The surgeon will give you an exam and ask you questions about your health. The purpose of this is to see if surgery is the next choice of options for you.

I would wait until I saw the surgeon as he/she should give you answers to the questions you might have.

If after you've see the surgeon and you have any additional questions or concerns, please fell free to contact me again...

I wish you well and congrats on the baby!
