Expert: Curtis J. Edwards, MD, FACS Date: 1/18/2008 Subject: post incisional hernia complications
Question had been operated for incisional hernia and mesh was implanted to control the widening. After operation for few days some liquid kept coming out from the stitching pores.
After several antibiotics or may be because pore get closed gradually, fluid stopped coming out.
Now after around 3 years of operation, I am having similar fluid coming out - but this time it is not from any pore or opening, but it is coming out with my urine.
Please tell me what should I do, if this is not normal.
Answer I have not examined you or the patient in question, reviewed the medical record, associated laboratory studies, or imaging. What follows is offered to you for information purposes, only and does not constitute treatment. I advise an examination from a qualified healthcare professional before undertaking any course of treatment.
You should see a physician to have a urinalysis performed. It is possible that a communication between the bladder and the mesh exists, a fistula. I hope this helps.
