Question Hi Dawn,
My dad has had rectal bleeding for a long time now, and its gotten worse in the past 6 months - we found out today that he has a perforated colon, and they've booked him in for a consult w/ a specialist - 3 MONTHS from now! He's also coughing up blood clots, he can't pass gas without bleeding all over, and most of his stools are just blood and / or blood clots. My mother and I are very worried. He's week (unlike him), and we feel the doctor isn't taking us seriously. I mean - He's consistently loosing blood from his behind! What can we do?
Thank you so much,
Angele
Answer Dear Angele,
I had answered this question from you back on the day I received it...the system must've acted up and not sent my answer to you....
My response to you was to try and have your dad get seen by another doctor or two. He needs to be monitored and 3 months is a long time to wait I agree.
I would also suggest that you call the specialist and ask that you be called as soon as possible if there are any cancellations in the schedule...or even if the doctor might be able to just squeeze your dad in one day soon.
Keep your dad as healthy as you can by feeding him well, giving him plenty of water and letting him get a balanced day of rest and exercise.
Please feel free to contact me again if you have any further questions or concerns....I care and will do my best to help you with some suggestions.
