Expert: Dawn Caceres - 2/25/2008

Question
i had umbilical hernia surgery in october 2007 i am still having drainage brownish in color and does have an unpleasant odor is this normal please let me know thank you

Answer
Dear Jason,

No. This isn't "normal" but I guess it can happen, as it has occurred to you. Call the surgeon and make an appointment to see him/her and have them examine you. Tell them you are concerned about the discharge that is still occurring after 4 months of healing time.

Please feel free to contact me again if you have any further questions or concerns...
