Question
hello,
i had my diagnostic lap 3/14 and nothing was found for my pelvic pain i was just wondering how soon you would know if you had internal or vascular injuries from the lap and what the symptoms would be. also why is it advised no sex for 2 weeks?

Answer
Dear Tiffany,

I don't not know what happened to your answer the site had a malfunction when it came time to submit the response....Here it is again...

The symptoms you ask about could happen anytime. Post-operatively you might experience pain, swelling, redness or warmth to the area. An elevated temperature is a symptom of possible infection. If you think you are having any problems at all you should contact the surgeon, it is he/she that should be advising you as to what to look for and what you should do or not do at this point. Aren't you expected to have a follow-up appointment 7-14 days after the procedure? Keep in touch with the surgeon.

You should typically refrain from sex as advised to insure that you are healed and not going to suffer any pelvic pain that brought you to the surgeon in the first place.

The Abdominal/Pelvic area can hide so many things, just because you had a procedure that didn't help you to locate the source of the pain doesn't mean it didn't help at all. The surgeon was able to confirm things that aren't a cause. What you can do is get a note pad and write things down. Keep a log of what you are doing when you experience these pains. Keep a log of how long the pain lasts, write down whatever you can, all of it will help eventually. I too experienced the same "type" of symptoms and was found to have a cyst that must have resolved on it's own...according to my GYN this is more common than we think. I  am not saying that this is what is causing your pain but you must do whatever you can to help find the source.

I do wish you the best, please feel free to contact me again if you have any further questions or concerns.
