Question
Hi Dawn I am 48 M Father of 6 and work in the marine industry going in for surgery June 5 my DR says i can go back to work the next day the 5 is on a thrusday and i am planning on going back on the 9 Monday.this is my busy time of the year so when i go back it will be at 110% is he correct Thank you Michael

Answer
Dear Michael,

There are no guarantees when it comes to medicine. I would hope that your doctor knows you and what you do and that he wouldn't steer you wrong. I would think that you need time to heal before returning to a full workload. Typical healing time varies from person to person and between surgeries.

The incisions usually heal and close with in a week or so and your internal tissues should be back to normal in about 3-6 weeks. You should make sure your doctor knows what you do and what you will continue to do with this surgery. Besides that take care of yourself by eating well, drinking plenty of water, and getting enough rest.

I wish you only the best and a speedy recovery!!!
