General Surgery - About cold remedies

Question
Hi.  I have been wondering about cold remedies.  I am aware that symptoms of the common cold such as a runny nose, fever etc are all part of the body's immune response to the invading virus.  However, cold remedies are taken to combat these processes.  Don't cold remedies, then, do us more harm than good by stopping the body from fighting the infection as effectively?  I mean, if the symptoms are 'needed', as I have been led to believe, then why suppress them?

Answer
taking thetype of medication more than it should or with low symptoms yes, but if it is an important these treatment will help as it make you breathing with ease , decreasing the inflammation get you a faster healing.
if you are sick for a week , with these medication you feel the symptoms just one to two days and yoare on your feet.
remember all medication or drugs can help but abusing lead to side effects.
a symptoms is just a reaction to an intensive attack, you might be infected and you are not gany symptoms, therefore having a symptoms is just telling you there is something wrong you need to do something about it.
in kids, giving medication means avoiding complication, some infections if not treated can become chronic and this lead to complication.
of course do not use antibiotics for flu, but if you take it do not stop to avoid resistance.
the body fight the infection and you need to help him to be stronger, our immunity is not the immunity of those of 3 century before we are weaker by the polution, but by these medication poeple do not dye from infection anymore unless immunocompromise.
so I agree with you partly, and I think it depend the condition and those of the patient reaction.
thanks very question
