Subject: exaggeration poems
Question hi what is the definition of an exaggeration poem and an imagery poem
Answer Hello Melanie,
Exaggeration means claiming something is greater than it really is. For example, if you said "my cat is as big as a house" or "I can run faster than the speed of light," you would be exaggerating.
Exaggerating is a fun way to write imaginative poetry. When a person exaggerates in a poem, he usually picks one characteristic of the thing and exaggerates it as wildly as possible. The crazier the exaggerations, the more exciting the poem is.
Poets add imagery to their poems. Images are all ways of describing the same thing. Or in other words, they try to capture in words how something tastes, looks, smells, feels or sounds. For example,
Tree branches
glisten white
Pillows of snow
Sun reflecting
tiny crystals of light
frozen in stillness
Do you see the difference between the two types of poems?
