General Writing and Grammar Help/The store is open now / The store is opened now

it's a bit too late, but here goes:

1.  "The store is open now."

'open' here functions as an adjective, which complements 'the store'.

2. "The store is opened now."

'open' here is part of a phrasal verb 'is opened' (in passive voice), which means that someone actually opened the store. in active voice, it would perhaps sound like 'the staff just opened the store a minute ago'.

I have published five nonfiction books and a number of articles. I currently write a column for a local newspaper. I am especially good at reference materials and where to find information.
