What does "to set someone straight" mean?

It means to correct his errors.

Jack misunderstood the teacher's directions, so I helped to set him straight.

Jane had the misconception that she did not have to attend class.  I set her straight
by showing her the course requirements.

Thomas confused Beethoven with Bach.  I set him straight on the difference between the two composers.
