General Writing and Grammar Help/Someone or something?

Question
When referring to an animal do you call them a someone or a something?

Answer
Hi Charleigh!

Interesting question!

For the most part, someone indicates a person, so it generally would not be used to refer to an animal.  An exception might be made if the person feels particularly close to the animal, but other than that, animals are supposed to be referred to using the term "thing".

Hope that helps!
