QUESTION: Dear Dr Johnson‎‎‎

Authors who can write fiction novels, books etc can also write non fictional English literature or vice versa ?.

All Authors can write both type of stories viz Fiction (not real) and Non fiction (real) in categories viz thriller, suspense, romance, tragedy, comedy/humor, horror etc

Some Authors can only write Fiction English literature.

Some Authors can only write Non Fiction English literature.

Statistically there will be more numbers with

a. Authors who have/can written both fiction as well as non fiction books.

b. Authors who have/can write fiction books.

c. Authors who have/can write non fiction novels.

i.e. a OR b OR c

Examples : William Shakespeare, Alfred Hitchcock, Enid Blyton‎, Jonathan Swift, Jane Austen, Agatha Cristie etc.

ANSWER: I'm not quite sure that I understand your problem here,

but here are some definitions:

1. An Author is somebody who writes

2. Authors can write fiction, non-fiction, poetry, academic studies - anything they wish

3. Some Authors write in only one literary genre

4. Othe Authors write in a number of genres

Shakespeare wrote plays and poetry

Alfred Hitchock is not an author - he is a film director

Enid Blyton wrote children's stories and novels

Jonathan Swift wrote poetry, satires, non-fictional prose

Jane Austen wrote stories and novels

Agatha Christie wrote stories and novels

Does that help?

QUESTION: Dear Dr Johnson

Thank you.

Question a

As you mentioned in points 3 & points 4,

3. Some Authors write in only one literary genre (fiction or non fiction)
4. Other Authors write in a number of genres (fiction, non fiction, poetry etc)

The 4th point authors category who write in a number of genres (fiction, non fiction, poetry etc) will be more or less statistically
in numbers than 3rd point authors category who write in only one literary
genre ?.

i.e. Whether there will be more or less authors who can write many number of genres than those authors who can write only specific genre ?.

Question b

Would you rate those authors who can write in a number of genres
(i.e. fiction, non fiction, poetry, academic studies etc) more gifted and
versatile than those authors who can only write a specific genre ?.

Awaiting your reply,

Thanks & Regards,
Prashant S Akerkar

Authors who write in a number of genres MAY or MAY NOT be more gifted.

There is no direct relationship between the two things.

And there is no statistical relationship between genre and quality.

I think you might be in danger of pursuing a false idea.
