Question
I took an hour getting there. / I took an hour to get there.

1) Which one is correct?

2) If both are correct, is there any difference in meaning?

3) Are there alternative way to write these sentences?

Thank you.

Answer
In most cases, gerunds and infinitives are interchangeable.
For example, To steal   is a sin & Stealing   is a sin are identical.

Similar is the case with your examples - they are similar in meaning.

It took an hour for me to get there - an alternative possibility.

In some cases, an abstract noun could replace the gerund / infinitive. I quote an example from Nesfield's Grammar (slightly modified):

To serve   the nation is a noble act.
Serving   the nation is a noble act.
Service   to the nation is a noble act.
