Which of the following sentences is correct?

1) The file you have given me is corrupt.

2) The file you have given to me is corrupt.

Dear Paolo:

Which of the following sentences is correct?

1) The file you have given me is corrupt.

2) The file you have given to me is corrupt.

*** Both are correct.  In the first one "me" is the indirect object of "have given."
In the second one, you have added the preposition "to," so me becomes the object of
the preposition.

I recommend using the first, because it is one word shorter.  Other people like to use the
prepositional phrase "to me."
