General Writing and Grammar Help/Go by/past a person

Dear Ted:

Is it also possible "to go by/past a PERSON"?

If so, would you please give me some examples?

Thank you.

Dear Paolo:

Is it also possible "to go by/past a PERSON"?

*** Yes.  Both mean that you are moving your body beyond their bodies.

I WENT BY/PASSED BY John on the street this morning.

Every morning I GO BY/GO PAST my next door neighbor.  She sweeps her sidewalk as I am on my
way to work.
