Genetics/Genetic Engineering and climate

Are genetically modified crops a good solution in harsh climates?

I'm looking for a personal opinion from an expert rather than a bunch of evidence. A short answer would be best. A pro gmo opinion would be ideal!

Thank you!

Not necessarily. GMO crops may not have features compatible with the native climate. Native growing plants are adapted to a particular climate over years. While a GMO crop can grow successfully, it may not always be a good solution. It depends on the genetic traits carried by the modified crop to be able to adjust to the climate and grow succesfully.
