Question
Bacteriophage can destroy bacteria. Can they use in the treatment of bacterial disease?

Answer
Hi Praveen,

Yes, phages can be used to destroy bacteria and has been known since 90 years. It gained much popularity in the Soviet and other European countries. However, due to inappropriate use, uncontrolled studies and the development of antibiotics pushed this area into out of focus. However, still some labs continue to work in this area.

Thanks,
Thane
