About Dianne Expertise I have built a total of 15 websites, all in Geocities and all in raw HTML. I have made every mistake in the book, and learnt by them all! You can benefit from my "learning experiences" and I will be happy to offer support and advice, and to answer any question you have on the subject.
Question I am trying to create a webpage for an automobile dealership which will comprise of about 4 pages. One for cars, another for trucks, etc... What I would like to do is create a software package that is maintenance free with respect to myself. I need a way for the dealership to be able to cut and paste pictures in to specific areas and to add about 50 chars of text next to the picture. Then all they have to do is synchronize changes back to their server. My question is : Is there a way to do this and if so, what is the easiest technique?
Answer Hello Fadi
I think the simplest way round your problem is to use one of the free website hosting services (Geocities, Angelfire, Xoom etc.) : I work in collaboration on several websites in just the way you describe, and as we are scattered around the world (USA, UK, Australia & Canada) it is the only way we can possibly work together!
We all have the site URL and (most importantly) the site password, and then (providing we are not all trying to be on-line at the same time) we can all work on the same website - fortunately the time differences mean that we don't try to log on together. We communicate with each other by email to discuss what we are goung to do with the site, and each of us works on our own particular area of expertise (HTML, graphics, design etc.) with one overall Webmaster in charge, to produce a site which is a joint effort.
Thus, if you set up a website and give advertisers the URL and password, they can add to the pages and you can oversee them. This would work even if your advertisers aren't very familiar with websites, HTML etc., as most free website hosts provide a WYSIWYG editor as part of their service.
I hope this is of some help to you - good luck with your website!
