About Katie Bischoff
Expertise
I have been making webpages for 5 years. I have worked with everything from Geocities to Dencity to CuteHTML. I can answer almost any question you have, be it about programming in general or different programs to use.

Experience
I have been making websites for 5+ years, and I currently run 10 different sites. I went from having a site on Geocities to having my own domain, and in the process I've used quite a few different programs to ccomplish what I wanted.

Geocities Webpage Creator (HTML) - My website

Expert: Katie Bischoff - 9/2/2001

Question
Katie,
I have owned and maintained my website for almost ten months now (and it's on Geocities). http://www.athletics.com7.org
I have recently given it a new "makeover" because I was getting bored with the layout and content, etc, so I added more links and more features to it and I had got it to look quite presentable. However, I recently tried to submit my website to another athletics page, asking them to add a link to my site. I received a reply from them this morning which said "We have taken a look at your site and we think it's too empty. Re-submit your website when it has more content". This kind of knocked me for six because they were so blatant about it. There wasn't even anycompliments like "nice layout" or "good idea"!
Anyway, this is why I have come to you for help. I was wandering if you have any ideas for my website which would add more content to it. I am currently a full time student in my last year of high school, so I don't have too much time, especially as I train four times a week and also have a job, so I literally don't have enough time to create a major athletics website. I would love too, but I just can't. I was thinking I could have a "news section", or a "results section", or something. Or do you have any ideas to make it LOOK as if it has more content?
I will be extremely grateful of any help you provide.
Jonathan Mulkeen.

Answer
Well right now, it looks like your site has no content. This could be why the athletics page responded to you the way they did. In both Internet Explorer and Netscape, your pages are nearly blank. The problem is that right after the code for your logo, you have this piece of code:

<!--end of top template--!>

This is causing all the other code on your page to be "commented out" as they say. In other words, none of the other text on your page is showing up!  Change the code to this:

<!--end of top template-->

or just delete that line of code altogether and then your page will have some content. Try submitting your site to the athletics page again, and if they still won't accept you, try joining some webrings - webring logos take up space and look like content. :)

If you have any further questions, please let me know.

-Katie
