Seismic waves are shock waves that are generated by earthquakes, landslides, magma movement, mine collapses, nuclear explosions, and other earth movements. They do damage by causing the ground to move or shake. Poorly constructed buildings, loose earth, water saturated ground, and tsunami waves do the rest.
