Geology - Masters Courses in exploration geology

Expert: Keith Patton - 10/14/2009

Question
I would like to have your advice where I can apply for a masters course in geology preferably in exploration, economic geology or GIS, in UK. Am a Zambian GIS and Database geologist working for an exploration company.
Regards
Mwape

Answer
I would advise you to go with the exploration program.  There is more opportunity than in economic geology, and GIS.  The pay is probably better than the other two alternatives.  I did Remote Sensing for about 8 years early in my career, before all the oil companies got out of doing it themselves and began outsourcing to value added companies and the satellites were privatized.  GIS has had the problem of overcoming the bad reputation that came from the over selling and grand unfulfilled promises that those in Remote Sensing made.  Definitely go with exploration.
