I read that waterfall is formed because of rivers flowing over the mountain rocks. How are rivers exactly formed? Does the clouds condense and form the river over the mountains. why are the waterfalls occur only in specific spots in a mountains? Also why are some waterfalls are seasonal and others are perennial?

Moosa
Answer Rivers are how water gets from teh mountains to the oceans. The water may come from rain, snow melt or glacier melt. Waterfalls typically occur where there is a v. hard layer of rock that is difficult to erode. That layer holds up the waterfall. Waterfalls might be seasonal if they depend on snow melt or v. heavy rains. They might perennial if there is glacier melt or a spring fed sources, etc.
