Question
I'm a girl belonging to a middle class Bengali family with an ambition to earn best in future. I have found interest in studying geology. But can geology assure me to get job positively. How much time will it take? Is this proffesion as good for girls? What prospects our country India have for geologists? From where should i begin and go forward to acheive my goal. or shall i choose engineering.

Answer
Geology is fine for girls.  There are loads of female geologists around the world.

Only you can control how your career choice will help you get a job.  If you study hard and concentrate on areas where there are known needs (environmental geology, groundwater/hydrogeology, remote sensing, etc) then you should have no problem finding a job.

You are likely not going to get rich quick being a geologist.  It takes lots of hard work and time.

I have no idea what the prospects for geologists are in India.  Sorry.

You need to speak to your teachers about hte best colleges for geologists in India and then learn what it takes to get into them.

Hope this helps.
