What is the difference between apparent dip or true dip?

True dip is the dip which is measured at right angles to the strike of a plane and which is the maximum value of dip for that plane
Apparent dip the dip of the trace of a plane, which is measured from the horizontal in any section non-perpendicular to the strike of the plane.
