Hi....I am the mom of a 9th grader and I am having a difficult time helping her with her homework. I am trying to learn all this myself so I can be of assistance to her but it has been soooooo many years I cannot remember geometry at all. Not to mention math was never my strong suit. I`d appreciate your help with a couple of questions if you don`t mind. Thanks so much.

a) The volume of a pyramid is 4.7m3. The height is 1.5m. Find base area.

b) The volume of a prism is 450cm3. Its base area is 150cm2. Find the height.

Hi Sharon,

The volume of a pyramid is one-third of the product of the area and the height.
V=Ah/3
(4.7)=A(1.5)
A=...

The volume of a prism is the product of the base area and the height.
V=Ah
(450)=(150)h
h=...
