Question

Triangle ABC
1. sketch and describe the locus of all points in a plane that are 4 centimeters from a circle with a radius of 8 centimeters.

2. sketch and describe the locus of all points in a plane that are equidistant from the sides of triangle ABC.

Answer
Hi Rhian,

1.  The locus would be a circle with radius of 12 (8+4=12).

2.  This locus is really just a single point, known as the orthocenter of the triangle.  It is found by bisecting the three angles of the triangle and joining the bisectors.  (This is the centre of an inscribed circle.)
