Question
How would you find the length of the segment using the Segment Addition Postulate to solve for x using HJ= 2x+4, JK= 3x+3 and KH= 22?

Answer
If we know the length of HJ and JK, add them up and you get the length of KH.

The lengths or HJ = 2x + 4 and the length of JK is 3x + 3.
When HJ and JK are added together, you get KH, which is 22.

The equation to solve is then 2x+4 + 3x+3 = 22.

Combine terms and you get 5x + 7 = 22.

Subtract off 7 from both sides and you get 5x = 15.

Divide both sides by 5 and you get x = 3.
