There are many pedagogical advantages of tau at the high school level. Beyond that, the advantages are primarily aesthetic. Furthermore, the difference between pi and tau is a factor of one half. It is not some 'weird' factor like the square root of 17, so it's not really a pressing issue. That said, it would be great to see tau gain notoriety and become an accepted mathematical constant. It's far more than 3 years overdue.
