Question
Dear Prof Azeem

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Postage_stamp

Other than Rectangle, Square, Diamond, Kite shapes can we construct postage stamps with other possible shapes viz Circular, Oval, Trapezoid, Pyramid, Triangle etc ?.

Thanks & Regards,
Prashant S Akerkar

Answer
Hi Prashant,

A postage stamp is really just a piece of paper and could be in any two-dimensional shape one desires.  The primary use of the rectangle is likely for ease of manufacturing and to prevent waste (no need to worry about the space between rectangles, unlike with circles).

Hope this helps,
Thanks
