Hello sir

Sir please explain the difference between Fractions and rational no's because they are both in p by q form.

Hi Aishwarya,

Mathematically, fractional numbers and rational numbers are the same.

Semantically, we only use the the term "fractions" when you can actually see the numerator and denominator. For example, we would not call the number 2 a fraction, unless it was written as 2/1. However, 2 is a rational number because it CAN be written as 2/1.

Thanks for asking,

Azeem
