AboutBenjamin Expertise I can address questions about the social and cultural life as well as nice restaurnats in the Middle Georgia area, particularly Macon. I`m not very familiar with Atlanta, however, because I rarely travel there.
Experience I grew up near Auguasta, GA and have lived in the Middle Georgia area since 1993. I am fond of the theater and fine dining in the area.

Question We are considering relocating from NY to Georgia. We want to be in a medium size city. Can you compare Albany, Columbus, Macon, and Augusta?
Answer I have not lived in Albany or Columbus, so I am less informed on those cities. However, Albany is medium-sized and located close to the FL beaches. However, be warned that Albany is very prone to severe flooding. Columbus is close to AL and has a military base close by for civil service work. Macon has a close proximity to Atlanta and a good selection of amenities (although I'm not a golf fan, they do have an excellent course), also a moderate selection of restaurants. Warner Robins, 15 minutes to the south has a military base and much better selection of restaurants. Macon has three private schools also. Augusta is in close proximity to South Carolina and about 2 hours from the SC beaches, also fairly close to Charleston. Augusta and Macon have an excellent fine arts department (classical music, ballet, one-act plays, etc.). Augusta has one and maybe two good private schools. Of course, Fort Gordon would have good civil service opositions available for employment. This is all that I can think of at the time, but please ask more questions as you need information. I recognize that I may not have covered areas that you consider important for the cities named. I would recommend Augusta over the other cities because, to me, the environment is cleaner and just an all-around better environment. Benjamin
