AboutShawntiah Jones Expertise I have great knowledge in many small and furry animals such as hamsters, gerbils, rats, mice, chinchillas, guinea pigs, rabbits and ferrets. I have taken care all of these animals and have great knowledge in appropiate cage sizes as well as food and health.
Experience I no longer work at pet store. because I am now working at a hospital, but I worked in the petcare department for a year and was the petcare lead of my department. It was a lot of work and a lot of fun. I also own many types of animals.

Answer Syrian hamsters get very large and typically it's not a good idea to buy cages with tubes for them. They will typically get 6-7 inches and do get fat. Typically people will fill their bowls up half way each day. I would buy a wired cage without tubes so he won't get stuck. I would not get the castle cage as it will eventually be too small for the hamster. If you decide to get a dwarf hamster then tube cages are fine as they don't outgrow them.
