Experience
I no longer work at pet store. because I am now working at a hospital, but I worked in the petcare department for a year and was the petcare lead of my department. It was a lot of work and a lot of fun. I also own many types of animals.

Question
im thinking of getting a hamster i did all my reserch but one of my friends has a really fat hamster and he cant fit though the toobs and i dont want that to happen to mine im thinking of getting a teddy bear hairy hamster or a hairy Syrian ham. can u tell me about how much to feed him/her so they are healthy but not overwieght  it helps im geting the blue knight castle cage cuz its very nice it has a basement mid and top floor but there is toobs in there and it has a wheel thats connected by toob/i want to buy a cheep 2nd cage and connect it to the 1st one  by toobs but that wont work if the the ham. womt fit though the toobs so plz help me soon i want a healthy ham (hamster)

Answer
Syrian hamsters get very large and typically it's not a good idea to buy cages with tubes for them. They will typically get 6-7 inches and do get fat. Typically people will fill their bowls up half way each day. I would buy a wired cage without tubes so he won't get stuck. I would not get the castle cage as it will eventually be too small for the hamster. If you decide to get a dwarf hamster then tube cages are fine as they don't outgrow them.
