Question
I'm seriously considering getting a hamster but I'm very concern about the smell. Besides cleaning the cage periodically, there's any way to prevent the smell totally?
Also, what type of hamster should i get? I'm thinking on a Russian dwarf. There's any particular type of hamster that likes to be handle by people better than others?

Hi Gabriela

Thank you for your questions. Regarding the smell, hamsters only smell if the bedding is not replaced regularly. Cage should be cleaned at least once a week and the potty are every day.

Syrian hamsters love to be handled! They really bond well with the owner too.. russian dwarfs need to be housed with another russian dwarf and tend to bond more together... they also tend to be tame with the owner, but personally for a first timer i prefer a syrian hamster.
