Question
My daughters hamster had babies on Wednesday. i read that they could be give plain cooked chicken and cooked egg white. I am kind of scared to give her egg and i was just wanting to know if hard boiled whites are okay and how much to give her? She also climbs the cage a lot and now I can only find one baby. She had two pups total. Not sure what to do. If she eat on wouldn't there be a corpse or does she eat the whole thing?
Any info is great.
Thank you,
Angela

Answer
The egg is for protein, just like the chicken. You don't have to give her egg, it's just a good way to keep her strong, only a few pieces of the whole egg, too much is a bad thing.

Some moms don't constantly tend to their pups, in which case she will usually bury them with shavings to keep them warm. The second baby may be buried in the shavings somewhere. Take a spoon and rub it around in the shavings of her cage then try to move it around looking for the other pup. If you can't find it it's safe to say she likely ate it. She may have eaten it due to stress or because there was something physically wrong with it. Either way, it would be best to give her some space and move her tank in a quiet room if you haven't already done so.
