AboutShawntiah Jones Expertise I have great knowledge in many small and furry animals such as hamsters, gerbils, rats, mice, chinchillas, guinea pigs, rabbits and ferrets. I have taken care all of these animals and have great knowledge in appropiate cage sizes as well as food and health.
Experience I no longer work at pet store. because I am now working at a hospital, but I worked in the petcare department for a year and was the petcare lead of my department. It was a lot of work and a lot of fun. I also own many types of animals.
Question my Panda Bear hamster had babies back in August '06 and when they got older they chewed holes in their cage. The mom is slow so she was easier to catch and we still have her but the babies got out at least 4 times and the last time we couldn't get them back. Yesterday I found one and I couldn't believe it survived. I put it the cage the mom is in, they seem to get along but sometimes the mom tries to sniff its private or something and they fight. The hamster I found is the same size it was when it ran away and I'm not even sure if it's a boy or girl. But what is the mom doing?
Answer The mom is sniffing her to figure out who the hamster is and she is also going to show she is the dominant one of the cage and if they are fighting she will probably do serious harm to the hamster if you don't seperate them. Hamsters prefer to be by themselves when they are in cages and it's best to seperate them.
